Jerry Wenzel will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in February and using the challenge to raise funds for CRPS research. CRPS (also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) is a chronic pain condition that most often affects one limb but can spread, usually after an injury. CRPS/RSD is believed to be caused by damage to, or malfunction of, the peripheral and central nervous systems. CRPS/RSD is characterized by prolonged or excessive pain and changes in skin color, temperature, and/or swelling in the affected area. Because not enough is known about this disease it is hard to diagnose and even harder to treat.
Your contribution will make an impact. Mount Kilimanjaro is over 19,000 feet in elevation. Its base is at 3000 feet so I hope to climb 16,000 feet to the summit of the world’s tallest free-standing mountain. To tie the fundraising in with the climb, I’m listing these ideas for donations.
- 1 penny per foot of vertical ascent would be a donation of $160
- 1 penny per yard of vertical ascent would be a donation of $53
- 1 dollar per mile of vertical ascent would be a donation of $30
The numbers above are from the height of the mountain. But whether you donate $5 or $500, every contribution helps. Thank you for your support. I’ve included information about Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA) below.
Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA) is an international 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization, based in Milford, Connecticut, Please scroll down to the Benefiting section for more information.
